前言

PREFACE

卯为春门，寓意万物已出，而兔的形象又与寄托着生命延续与美好希望的文化概念紧密相连。2023年岁次癸卯，金虎辞旧瑞兔迎新之际，江苏省美术馆在8号展厅以“万物生长”为题，呈现近百件与兔年生肖、自然草木相关，象征生机盎然的小幅纸本、雕塑、装置与文化创意衍生品。

这也是一场揭示了复苏与变化的展览，是对严冬的告别，又是重新安放生活的开始。作品将应和展期内经历的时令景致，从大寒跨越立春，并止于惊蛰，代表着后疫情时代的人们在形色之间见证阳和启蛰，品物皆春，珍视自平凡中绽放的生命光华，并为春回大地的未来留下开枝散叶般的愿景。

一花独放不是春，万物生长才是世间最好的诗意——期待艺术的力量能让我们更深入地理解此中真意，在2023年面朝春光，心怀希望。

“Mao Rabbit” is one of the 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, with “Mao” representing the start of the spring and new life while the rabbit image carrying the cultural connotation of continuation and hope. 2023 is the Guimao Year of the Rabbit in Chinese Lunar Calendar. As the new year is arriving, Jiangsu Art Museum will hold an exhibition on the theme of “All Things Grow”. It will display nearly 100 articles related to “Mao Rabbit” and natural plants for the symbolism of full vitality, including small-size papers, sculptures, installations and cultural creative derivatives.

By conveying the meaning of revival and transformation, we hope to encourage people to wave farewell to the harsh winter and embrace a new life. Seasonal scenery will be a main feature of the display works that correspond to the exhibition period, spanning from the Great Cold to the Beginning of Spring and the Waking of Insects. Emerging stronger from the pandemic, we are ready to welcome a hopeful and vibrant new season. At such a joyful moment, we will be enlightened to cherish what is ordinary but valuable in our daily life while building beautiful visions for a promising future.

A single flower never brings the spring. It is a better world only if all things grow in harmony. We hope that art will be a enlightening source for you to gain insights into the truth of these words and embrace the year of 2023 with hope.
